Aim and Objective: A survey on awareness among dentists about cross infection with questionnaires was conducted. Materials and Methods: A self-administered questionnaire was prepared and given to 100 dental students in Saveetha dental college, Chennai. A set of 15 questions were given in the questionnaire. The results were analyzed and demonstrated in the form of pie charts. Results: Out of 100, 69% of the students knew about cross infection, 100% of the students wore mask while doing a procedure, 100% of students changed their gloves after each check-up, 97% of the students washed their hands after degloving and when the students were asked to rate themselves on a scale of 10 based on the awareness they had about nosocomial cross infection, 18% the students rated them between 7-10 and the rest 82% rated them between 5-7. Conclusion: From the results, it was evident that the students had sufficient knowledge about cross-infection and the only need was to apply the knowledge in their daily...

Aim: The aim of this study is to analyse the prevalence of hysterectomy in South Indian population. Objective: To survey about the types, causes and complications of hysterectomy in South Indian women population. Background: Hysterectomy is the surgery to remove the uterus. It may also include the removal of cervix, ovaries, Fallopian tubes and other surrounding structures. The survey comprises of the experience of the women with pre and post-surgical experiences. Reason: Hysterectomy is common now a day, even in the reproductive age group. So it is important to know about the prevalence/significance of...

Despite the complexity of the drug use, several indicators have been developed, standardized and evaluated by WHO/world health organization, which provides useful means of measuring certain aspects of country’s drug use. These indicators are grouped into three categories, namely; prescribing indicators, patient care indicators, and facility indicators. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess patterns of drug use by using WHO prescribing and health facility indicators in Kombolcha town, Amhara region, Northern Ethiopia from May 15 to May 30/2014. Methods and Material: A cross-sectional study was carried out in selected health facilities. Equal numbers of samples were selected from the three health centers (KHC 02, 03, and 05) using a random sampling method until the desired sample size was achieved. Prescriptions were assessed according to WHO/ INRUD guideline (WHO, Policy Perspective on Medicines, 2002). Result: A total of 384 prescriptions that included 796 drugs were analyzed. 780 (98%) drugs were prescribed using generic names. The average number of drugs per prescription was 2.1. In 241 (30.2%) of...

Several liquid crystalline phases are bicontinuous cubic, reversed hexagonally, or reversed cubic phase, and several nanostructure liquid phases. Of the many liquid crystalline phases, bicontinuous cubic phases possess a special status. Dispersed particles of bicontinuous cubic liquid crystalline phase (cubosomes) are self-assembled nanostructured particles that can be formed in aqueous lipid and surfactant systems. Cubosome dispersions are thermodynamically stable, bioadhesive, and biocompatible, because of their properties, they are versatile systems, administrable by different ways such as orally, percutaneously, and parenterally. The discovery of cubosomes is a unique story. Despite the early realization of their potential, the manufacture of cubosomes on a large scale faced difficulty because of their complex phase behavior and viscous properties. The cubosome advantage is related to the simple production procedure and chemico-physical stability. Concerning the liposome, cubosome possesses a larger ratio between the bilayer area and the particle volume and larger breaking resistance. Cubosome structure studied using electron microscopy, “light scattering,” x-ray and “NMR.” This review focus on liquid crystalline phase and cubosomes (bicontinuous cubic...
