A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF MIKANIA CORDATA (ASTERACEAE)
AbstractMikania cordata which belongs to the family Asteraceae is a medicinal plant that has been widely distributed through Southeast Asia and Eastern Africa. It possesses various therapeutic properties which include – anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, bronco-dilating, analgesic, antibiotic, anti-diarrheal, hepatoprotective, epidermal or skin protective, coagulative, anticarcinogenic, CNS depressant, anti-stress, cytotoxic, insect and scorpion bites and so on. As per from our study, there is no other review paper available till now regarding the pharmacological properties of this plant. Therefore, our paper is the first one to report a review on Mikania cordata. In this paper, along with the pharmacological properties, the other necessary features regarding the plant can be well acknowledged and can be utilized for further research and study purposes.
