Diabetes is a metabolic disorder of the endocrine system. The medicinal plant has used for the treatment of diabetes throughout the world. Several medicinal plants are known to treat diabetes, and they have no side effect. The medicinal plant performed a good clinical practice and is showing a bright future in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Many studies have confirmed the benefits of the medicinal plant with a hypoglycemic effect in the management of diabetes mellitus. This present review evaluates the medicinal plant used for anti-diabetic activity. The present review profile gives information about the plant’s scientific name, common name, family, and the part of the plant used to treat diabetes...

Present study aimed to develop a microemulsion system for topical application of Amoxicillin to provide various advantages over conventional dosage forms. Amoxicillin is broad-spectrum semisynthetic antibiotic similar to ampicillin except that its resistance to gastric acid permits higher serum levels with oral administration. Amoxicillin is commonly prescribed with clavulanic acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor) as it is susceptible to beta-lactamase degradation. Clinical studies show that it is highly effective for topical treatment of skin infections. The microemulsion was prepared using oleic acid as an oil phase, tween 20 as surfactant and propylene glycol as co-surfactant. The drug was evaluated for their micropolitical properties like the angle of repose, bulk density; tapped density, Carr’s index, and Hausner’s ratio were studied. In-vitro characterization of the microemulsion of amoxicillin was done through measurement of pH, conductivity, viscosity, drug...

Guar gum is a non-ionic polysaccharide that is found abundantly in nature. It is extracted from the endosperm of seeds of guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonaloba). It has many advantageous applications in industries due to their various properties. Guar gum is widely used in cosmetics, food, paper, textile, explosive, and pharmaceutical industry. In pharmaceuticals, the use of guar gum as delivery carriers as drugs has gained great attention due to its high swelling characteristics in aqueous solution. Guar gum can be modified by derivatization, grafting, and network formation to improve its property profile for a wide spectrum of biomedical applications. Guar gum and its derivatives in the various forms such as coatings, matrix tablets, hydrogels, and nano/microparticles are exploited as potential carriers for targeted drug delivery, colon-specific, protein, transdermal drug delivery systems. Guar gum is also used for healthy bowel activity, weight loss, and diabetes control. Partially hydrolyzed guar gum (PHGG) is produced by a controlled process of partial hydrolysis. PHGG affects the prevention and treatment of constipation, diarrhea, diabetes,...

Aim: To study the status of restoration and prevalence of caries in patients witha removable partial denture. Materials and Method: Case sheets of 100 RPD (removable partial denture) patients were collected, and the prevalence of caries and restorative status were assessed from it. Results: From the 100 subjects, 36% of the RPD patients had caries. Based on the restorative status, 12 subjects did not undergo any restorative treatment, while the rest had undergone restoration. Conclusion: The prevalence of caries in patients with RPD was found to be higher than that of patients with a fixed partial denture (FPD). Therefore, alterations can be made in the design of RPD such that it will reduce the incidence of caries in RPD wearers. Awareness of oral hygiene should be given to patients with...

Cancer is a general term applied to a series of malignant diseases that may affect different parts of the body. Cancer is a disease which occurs when changes in a group of normal cells within the body lead to uncontrolled growth causing a lump called a tumor; this is true of all cancers except leukemia (cancer of the blood). When cancer spreads to other parts of the body, this is called metastasis. Methotrexate (MTX) is a folate antimetabolite used as an anticancer agent in the treatment of head and neck cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer. The doses and frequency of administration of MTX depend on its toxicity to hematopoietic tissues and buccal or gastrointestinal mucosa, drug resistance, leucopenia, and nephrotoxicity and limits its chemotherapeutic applications. Methotrexate is an antineoplastic antimetabolite. Anti-metabolites masquerade as purine or pyrimidine – which become the building blocks of DNA. They prevent these substances from becoming incorporated into DNA during the “S” phase (of the cell cycle), stopping normal development and division. Methotrexate is also...
