Most of the existing anticancer drugs are very potent small molecules; their efficacy is constrained by their systemic toxicity, narrow therapeutic window, low drug loading, size control, scale up, cost of formulation but also as a result of drug resistance and limited cellular entry. Due to these obstacles, controlled and targeting or localized release technology has been replacing the systemic administration and has shown lots of potential for cancer treatment. Liposomes can be used to provide a sustained release of drugs, which require a prolonged plasma concentration at therapeutic levels to achieve the optimum therapeutic efficacy. In the present work, we formulate liposome containing the anticancer drug ‘6 Mercaptopurine’ for sustained delivery. The drug incorporation was carried out using the ether injection method. A Reverse Phase-High Performance Liquid Chromatography method has been developed and validated for the estimation of sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate in food products. The RP-HPLC method for sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate was developed using Luna C18 column (150 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 µm) as stationary phase and acetonitrile: sodium acetate buffer pH 4.3 (20:80) as mobile phase at 1.0 ml/min flow rate and detection was carried out at 235 nm and the methods were validated in accordance with ICH guidelines. Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate have linearity in the concentration range of 1-30 µg/ml in with correlation coefficient (r2= 0.999 & r2=0.999) respectively. Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate eluted at 4.9 and 6.9 min, respectively. The values of LOD were 0.59 and 0.39, and LOQ were 1.8 and 1.1 for sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate respectively. Objective: To rationalize the macroscopical and microscopical study, TLC and HPTLC fingerprinting of Ficus religiosa Linn. leaves. Methods: The crude ethanolic extract of leaves of Ficus religiosa Linn. was using the macroscopical characters powder microscopical study and Preliminary phytochemical investigation of TLC and HPTLC. Results: An attempt has been made to highlight this folk herbal medicine through present study which will assist in the identification of fresh as well as dried crude samples of leaves phytochemically, macroscopically, and microscopically. TLC and HPTLC fingerprint profiling were carried out, and the salient qualitative and quantitative parameters are reported. The aim of the study was to determine the synergistic antimicrobial activity of a selected medicinal plant extract mixture composed of Calotropis gigantean (ElaWara, Family: Asclepiadaceae), Datura metel (Kalu Attana, Family: Solanaceae) and Ricinus communis (Erandu, Family: Euphorbiaceae) against selected gram positive and gram negative bacteria. In the study, antimicrobial activity was evaluated against two-gram positive organisms; Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 95923) and group A Streptococcus spp. (ATCC 12384) and two gram-negative organisms; Escherichia coli (ATCC 95922) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853). Agar disc diffusion method was carried out to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the selected medicinal plant extract mixture, and the inhibition zone diameters were measured. Further, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was evaluated using a broth microdilution method. The inhibition zones against S. aureus and group A Streptococcus spp. were observed.
