Introduction: Menopause, or the permanent cessation of menstruation, is one of the significant stages in the normal development in a woman’s life. During menopause, women undergo series of endocrinal and biological changes that are associated with increased prevalence of chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoporosis, dyslipidemia, and obesity. Objective: Present study explores the prevalence of chronic diseases and the probable role of socioeconomic conditions in post-menopausal women in Mumbai and Karachi. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was done in a total of 295 post-menopausal women from Mumbai (n=150) and Karachi (n=145) to assess the prevalence of chronic diseases and their socioeconomic conditions. Results: Hypertension was the most prevalent chronic disease in post-menopausal women from Mumbai (n=28; 18.6%) as well as from Karachi (n=18; 12.4%). Fruits are considered as the wonder source of nutrition that are being obtained from the Plants. Fruits contain various bio active compounds that helps someone to fight against illness. A study has been conducted to evaluate the carbohydrate levels in various fruits. The fruits such as Malus domestica, Carica papaya, Psidium guajava, Ziziphus jujuba, Citrus sinensis, Punica granatum, Musa paradisiaca were tested and found to possess 0.38%, 0.48%, 0.5%, 0.5%, 0.885, 1.16% and 1.24% of carbohydrate levels respectively. The bitter plant Andrographis paniculata has been selected to evaluate the anti haemolytic activity, antibacterial activity, and various phytochemicals present in the methanolic leaf extract. The leaf extract of Andrographis paniculata shown to have significant anti-haemolytic activity. The extract showed anti-haemolytic activity in the range from 42% to 80%. At varying concentration of plant extracts 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mg/ml the percent of inhibition of haemolysis recorded were 42%, 56%, 62%, 70%, 80% respectively. The methanolic leaf extract of Andrographis paniculata showed significant inhibitory effect on all of the five bacterial species such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Streptococcus mutans. The inhibition zones for S. aureus were 12 mm, 14 mm and 19 mm (including well 4 mm) at concentrations of 15 µl, 20 µl, and 25 µl respectively. The present study was investigated the phytochemical properties, analgesic and cytotoxic activities of the ethanolic extract of Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers. fruits (Family-Lythraceae). Phytochemical screening of the ethanol extract of fruits of L. speciosa showed the presence of Steroids, Tannins, and Saponins types of compounds. The pharmacological interest of these compounds encouraged to check L. speciosa Pers. for possible analgesic & cytotoxic activities. The crude extract at the dose of 500 mg/kg body weight exhibited moderate action against acetic acid-induced pain in mice significantly (p<0.01), where percentage of protection was found 55.21% while the standard drug diclofenac’s percent of protection was found to be 84.37% at a dose of 25 mg/kg body weight. The extract showed potent cytotoxic activity to brine shrimp, and LC90 was found at the dose of 100 µg/ml as well as LC50 was 60 µg/ml.
